What to Expect:

Filling out our Audition Application is REQUIRED! (Click the link above!) Please allow yourself plenty of time to complete it and be thoughtful and thorough with your responses. We want to get to know you!

Prior to auditions, we'll send an email with the audition location and any additional details. This email will include a video tutorial of one of the audition dances so you can begin practicing in advance! Yay!

Day One
-
We will review the tutorial dance all together. This is NOT a full re-teach, so come prepared with the moves, and bring any questions! The focus will be on clarification, practice, and building confidence.

You will also be taught one of our signature marches that we perform in the streets!

Throughout the day, we will break into small groups to practice all dances, ask questions, and receive feedback from current Cherries.

After dancing, we will switch things up for some fun and games at our social event to get to know each other! Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Day Two

We will review both dances as a full group and in small groups before performing them in small groups for everyone. Be ready to cheer on your fellow candidates!

We will follow up with every candidate via email in a timely manner.
Additional info:
All candidates MUST pre-register via our Audition Application. Dance experience is helpful, but not required! Wear anything that feels good to move in. Attendance at both audition days is required.

We do not accept video audition submissions if someone cannot make the audition in person on Sunday. All candidates must be 21+. This is a closed audition, so we will only admit pre-registered candidates into the audition space.
Membership Requirements
The main "it factor" needed is a love for dance, for uplifting others, and for the people and culture of New Orleans. We are a dance focused group, and we have at least one practice a week — more when we are preparing for dance performances and parades. We ask that all members attend a minimum of one practice per month in order to stay active. We practice hard both because we LOVE to dance and so we can bring our best for our events. We are a small group committed to connection and a culture of support, diversity, and non-discrimination. All members also have responsibilities to keep the group running and thriving, beyond just dancing and membership. If you love dance but also love to work and play hard, then the Cherries could be a great fit for you! All of our members must be 21+.
